James Gwee at Gereja Gloria Surabaya - On the night of Friday 24 July 2009, James Gwee was invited to speak at Gereja Gloria Satelit. The topic was “Integritas dan Profesionalisme Dalam Pelayanan”. The original plan was to have this seminar for the “pelayan” of the church. However to the surprise of the organisers, the response was extremely positive and more and more people (jemaat / non-pelayan) also requested to attend the seminar. In all 500 turned up for the event, filling up every chair in the church. The panitia said that they had to close registration because they did not want to over-pack the room. Wise decision.
For 2 hours, James inspired those who attended and showed them how to serve with integrity and professionalism.

More than 150 people attended the event at Hotel Sheraton, Surabaya… It was an interesting session, with James sharing how he uses Blackberry features such as Calender - Invite Attendees, co-ordinating and instantly updating his schedule with his office. After his session, the guests were entertained by Audy.


James Gwee Shows 500 Bank Bukopin Sales Staff the Way to Become Superstar Sales People

It was a Saturday morning at Bank Bukopin MT Haryono, Jakarta. .My seminar was scheduled to start at 9am, and it DID started PUNCTUALLY at 9am! It was my third seminar for the sales staff of Bank Bukopin. This time, more that 500 staff had turned up for this seminar on Saturday morning despite the fact that this was a long weekend ! IMPRESSIVE ! I truly appreciate their desire and enthusiasm to learn ! 500 people came on a long weekend, punctually and cheerfully to learn to sell better ! Wonderful !

Throughout the 3-hour session, they learnt the correct steps of “What-Who-How”. They took notes, they actively participated in the exercises… The participants were so enthusiastic that we added extra time !

Equally amazing was that so many of them purchased my CDs and books so that they could continue to increase their knowledge and improve their selling skills.
Pak Rifnaldi, was, as usual, the man behind all this wonderful co-ordination. He came early, and stayed till the very end to send us off. Throughout the session he was always paying attention to details, co-ordinating the lights, the snacks, everything- to ensure everything went smoothly - and everything DID move along very smoothly !.. What a positive example of being responsible and a gracious host. Once again, THANK YOU Pak Rifnaldi. We really look forward to the opportunity to be of service to you & Bank Bukopin in the near future…

James Gwee Speaks at Sequislife Branch SOUP

It was 2pm on Thursday, 9 July 2009 at Sequislife Training Centre at Sequis Plaza (formerly DM Plaza) at Jl Jend Sudirman, Jakarta.
Everything was set up and the “show” was all set to begin. It was Sequis Opportunity for Unlimited Profit (SOUP) organised by Sequislife Hayam Wuruk, Jayakarta, Iskandarsyah &Sudirman Branches.
By 2.30pm some guests started to arrive. The event started at 3pm sharp. After the opening by MC Harry, it was James Gwee’s session and he spoke on the topic “Proven Ways To Make More Money”. He explained the many benefits of a career as a Life Insurance Agent, including the many financial benefits that most people are not aware of. After his session, most of the 200 participants’ eyes were opened. Then there was a very powerful and convincing Testimony by Sequislife Hayam Wuruk Plaza’s Top Agent Lilly Septianie (4 times Million Dollar Round Table qualifying member). She showed photographs of the Incentive Tours that we achieved with Sequislife every year since 2001. She had indeed travelled around the world with Sequislife - all FREE OF CHARGE ! She had travelled to the USA, Canada, Barcelona, Madrid, Nice, Switzerland, Milan, Hong Kong, China, Sydney. Melbourne, Japan, Hawaii, Vietnam, Bangkok, Dubai, Egypt, Rome and Paris ! Then the participants’ eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when she showed them her monthy Commission Slip which was 5-10 times her previous income. Truly the income as a life insurance agent is UNLIMITED PROFIT ! . It was at that moment that the participants began to appreciate the benefits of being a Life Insurance Agent. The next Testimony was by Dessy, told the audience how she was able to close 3-4 insurance policies per month PART-TIME. She still holds a full-time job as a secretary to the director of a company in Mangga Dua while she stays in Depok. She gets her clients by talking to people in the train on her way to work and on her way home from work. No extra time needed, but she gets extra income. FANTASTIC !!
After Dessy’s testimony, those who were interested in becoming a life insurance agent were encouraged to stay back after the coffee break to get more detailed information. More than 70% stayed back & so many signed up after that.

James Gwee Visits Ciputra Indah Jonggol for 2nd Time

In his 2nd visit to Ciputra Indah Jonggol, James Gwee speaks to more than 70 employees on the topic “How To Become A Star Employee”. The seminar started on time at 9am at the Ciputra Indah Jonggol Marketing Office.
In 3 hours, the very attentive and participative participants we reminded of WHY they go to work. James explained to them the 4 Stages of Lives and why it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to make the best use of the time & opportuinity that we have while working to take on as many challenges as possible, to learn as much as possible, to develop themselves as much as possible so that they become more competent.
James also explained to them to be PRO-ACTIVE and to give MORE that is expected of them, so that they will shine. Why ? Bacause only outstanding people get the better offers and better opportunities in liofe. Average workers work hard their whole lives but their lives remain average. Why? Because they just do as they are told, they are not prepared to give more than is expected and they are not prepared to spend the effort to think to ways to keep improving themselves. That is why they work hard, but still remain average all their lives…
After the 3 hours session most of the participants seemed to be given a good shake up and WAKE UP CALL. They leave the 3 hours seminar with a clearer purpose of why they go to work, that they want to achieve in their lives and definitely MORE MOTIVATED.

How To Become a STAR Employee ?

Everybody wants to succeed in life and at work. Most people work very hard. And yet, the reality is that most employees stay as AVERAGE employees and don’t make it to the top. In other words, they are not STARS.
Why ? What can you do to change from an average employee to become a STAR employee ?
Here are some practical tips :
1. First, realize that it’s all a matter of PERSPECTIVE and THINKING.
- It has nothing to do with talent because we see many talented people who do not succeed at work nor in life
- It has nothing to do with educational level because we also know many graduates, masters degree holders, doctorates, professors who don’t make it to the top.
- It has nothing to do with being the son of the boss because we see many rich man’s children who are not respected by their sub-ordinates.
The most important factor they way of THINKING. Change your thinking and you’ll change your life.
2. Average workers do as they are told. Their manager tells them to do something, and they’ll do it as best as they can. They manager asks them to get the report done by Thursday, and they complete the report by Thursday. They do as they are told. That’s average. That’s why many hardworking, loyal and honest employees are still categorized as average - because they do as they are told.
On the other hand, STARS do BEFORE they are told. They ANTICIPATE what their managers will need and do the work BEFORE they are asked to do the work. They are PRO-ACTIVE and they are prepared to GIVE MORE that they are expected to give. That’s why people appreciate them and consider them to be STARS. They go BEYOND the standard expectations.
3. WHY should an employee want to do MORE than is expected and to make all the extra effort to ANTICIPATE people”s needs and do BEFORE they are asked to do ? Why go through all that trouble ? The reason is that STARS have a stronger sense of purpose. They have clear goals. They want to go far in life, therefore they do EXTRA. On the other hand, most average employees just look forward to the next pay check. STARS have a different MOTIVATION than the Average workers.
4. STARS are always looking for positive opportunities to progress. They realise that one of the opportunities is to take on additional projects / tasks such as :
- Being asked to be in charge of the company newsletter,
- Being asked to co-ordinate the company’s renovation
- Being asked to co-ordinate the company’s move to another location
- Being ask to be overall in-charge of company exhibition
- Being asked to handle the press conference, etc
These are all extra work which requires extra effort, extra thinking, working extra time and the inconvenience of coordinating with colleagues — without extra compensation !! The Average employee will consider these as unnecessary and inconvenient and will tend to turn down these “extra work with no extra pay”. But the Star employee realizes that these are all opportunities to display their extra ability and to impress management. As a result of this , the STAR employee moves ahead.
Remember that in the office, opportunities to shine and show your abilities to management are often disguised as “extra work with no extra pay”.
These are some of the differences between the Average employee and the Star employee.
You will learn VERY MANY MORE practical ideas. You and your team will be TRULY MOTIVATED to become STAR employees.

How To Motivate My Employees So That They Are POSITIVE, PRO-ACTIVE and ENTHUSIASTIC ???

This is the question that I have been asked so often during my in-house training, public seminars, radio talk shows, by sms, etc.
And the good news is that we have discovered and formulated the SOLUTION.
The problem of employee motivation is complex and involves many aspects. Besides external factors such as the capability of his superior, the system in the organisation (reward, incentive, appreciation, etc) the working environment in the offce, etc the MAIN factor is, of course, the individual himself (herself).
In terms of INTERNAL factor, there r many aspects to look at :
- The way the individual THINKS
- His expectations of himself
- His expectations of others around him
- The expectations of others towards him
- His self-identity and self-worth
- His personal values
- His goals (or lack of goals), etc
Once you help the individual to be CLEAR about all the above, his life AUTOMATICALLY becomes more purposeful, and almost INSTANTLY he CHANGES and becomes a Positive, Pro-active and Enthusiastic person at work. Why? Because he now has a clearer purpose and idea of why he comes to work everyday.
However, it requires know-how, a systematic approach and experience to be able to do all these - within a very short time of one day.
We have discovered and formulated the SOLUTION.

Grab Your Audience for Teenagers - What A Pleasant Surprise !

After more than two months of marketing, previews, radio talk shows and preparation, our very first intake of Grab Your Audience for Teenagers was conducted on 26 & 27 June at Puncak.

When they first arrived at the “camp”, the teenagers at first looked apprehensive, some looked reluctant to attend (perhaps “forced” by their parents). However, after the first ice-breaking activity, the situation was already very cheerful. As the training gathered momentum, group identity began to form, group solidarity increased and the sense of competition started to creep in. The atmosphere became really fun and exciting.

The most surprising thing for us coaches was the extremely high level of enthusiasm of the participants. These teenagers learnt faster than many of the participants of Grab Your Audience that we normally conduct for executives. They were much more creative and dared to experiment. The group synergy was also much stronger… The stronger members readily helped, encouraged and cheered their team mates to give more interesting presentations.

After only two days, we could see significant improvements in almost all of the participants. Even those who were afraid and shy on the first half of the first day surprised all of us during the final presentation.

On the second day, parents were invited to come in the evening to watch the final performance frm their children. There were so many happy smiles from the parents as they proudly photographed and video recorded their children doing their final presentation.

After the “show” from the teenage participants, so many parents immediately registered their children for the next program. And the most satisfying thing was that most of the parents who enrolled their children for the next program because their children wanted to attend the next camp ! FANTASTIC !

So to parents who entrusted your children to Grab Your Audience for Teenagers, we say a big “THANK YOU” for trusting us. We hope that you are happy with their achievement.

To the teenagers who attended the two days Grab Your Audience for Teenagers, we say a big “THANK YOU” for your fantastic enthusiasm, for giving your best and for your extremely positive attitude. Remember to keep practicing Power Opening, Power Closing and Impromptu Techniques that you have learnt. Practice makes perfect.
To all the coaches of Grab Your Audience for Teenagers, we say a big “THANK YOU” for giving everything you had, for giving your last ounce of energy to the teenagers. I know that we were all also so encouraged and happy to see the teenager so quickly absorb and apply everything we teach them.
