I just landed in Surabaya - will be here for 2 days. I’ve been invited to speak in a half day seminar for the managers and sales people of  Isuzu. Then at 7pm tonight, I’ll be having a seminar at Gereja Happy Family with the topic “Being Stable In An Unstable World”.

Then tomorrow morning (0830-1200) we will have the seminar that I’v been waiting for… “Selling By Asking The Right Questions”. This seminar is organised by my strategic partner in Sby, Pro M. 700 Employees of TPI Fully Charged and Ready to Be Number One !

Everyone was there - top management, managers, marketing staff, production staff, creative people, technicians,  support and admin staff… everyone.  Everyone came on time. The event was scheduled to start at 1330, and it started on time ! Impressive ! The energy was so positive, everyone was so enthusiastic, cheerful and happy.

The seminar was held at TPI Studio 4 - with the full lighting, sound, giant screen. The employees sat in the studio like the audience and I was on the giant stage. It felt like I was the star of a 3 hour KDI show !

It took just 3 hours, and all 700 employees of TPI were fully charged up and on fire ! They are now fully charged to CHANGE OLD HABITS, BECOME MORE FOCUSED, IMPROVE TEAMWORK And ACHIEVE NUMBER ONE.

To the management and all staff of TPI keep moving ahead, keep improving… Go for NUMBER ONE !!

Pemimpin adalah mereka yang bisa merangkul anak buah dan memberikan solusi kala terjadi krisis. Karenanya saat orang lain menganggap krisis adalah hambatan dan masalah, seorang Pemimpin menganggap krisis itu sebagai suatu tantangan dan sesuatu yang menggairahkan mereka. Ketika melihat tantangan, maka Pemimpin akan fokus pada solusi. Karena itu ketenangan harus dimiliki para Pemimpin. Dengan ketenangan maka mereka bisa lebih jelas dalam memikirkan suatu solusi dan mereka berani menanggung resiko.

Berikut adalah tiga hal yang harus dimiliki Leaders :

Leaders See Hope Before Others : Pemimpin mampu melihat titik terang sebelum anak buah mereka. Karena pemimpin adalah orang yang berada di posisi depan maka dialah yang harus menunjukkan jalan bagi anak buahnya. Dengan melihat harapan terlebih dahulu, maka dia akan bisa membimbing para anak buahnya menuju ke tanah harapan itu untuk kemudian melakukan sesuatu.

Leaders Express Hope Before Others : Selain memberitahukan suatu harapan pada masa krisis, Pemimpin juga mampu mengekspresikan harapannya itu. Kegembiraannya, optimismenya dan semangatnya. Karena energi itu menular. Ketika para anak buah itu tertular energi positif maka mereka akan bisa lebih tenang dalam melakukan usaha di masa krisis seperti ini.

Leaders Create Hope Before Others : Sebagai manusia, ketidakpastian sewajarnya dialami, namun ini jangan sampai mempengaruhi ketegasan Pemimpin dalam memutuskan sesuatu. Apapun kondisi yang terjadi berikanlah hal positif dan ketenangan serta ketegasan kepada anak buah.

The afternoon session was even more exciting… “Personality Power For Champion Sales“. The more than 150 participants learnt the different types of sales people, how to motivate each type of sales person, what type of sales people you will need in your team, how to improve the power in your team by having the right combination of people. It was such a cheerful session, everyone discovered which type of sales people they are, their strengths and weaknesses, how to improve their performance based on their strengths, what type of sales people their colleagues are, and most interesting of all, what type of sales person their sales manager/supervior is.

We finished at 5pm with everyone singing a song together.

A very happy day. Thank you Palembang, thank you Palembang School of Life for organising the event so professionally, so efficiently and so successfully !

One day, TWO seminars in Palembang. Wonderful !

In the morning session, the topic was “Management By Empowerment”. Within 3 hours, the participants learnt :

Talkshow in Gramedia Palembang Square

Gramedia PalembangFriday (17/4/09) night 7-8.30pm at Gramedia Palembang Square… My talkshow promote my Best Seller “Setiap Orang Sales Harus Baca Buku Ini!“. The event was organised by Gramedia bookstore. The event was recorded by TV Sriwijaya in front of a live audience in Gramedia bookstore. The host for the talkshow was the lovely Ibu Izu.

The participants who attended were very enthusiastic and asked so many good questions…

The program will be played in Sriwijaya TV in Palembang at 9pm on Tues night.

Untuk belajar mengenai kepimpinan kita bisa belajar dari banyak CEO terkenal. Beberapa diantaranya panutan yang bisa kita ikuti adalah dari Fred Smith – CEO Fedex dan , CEO GE – Jeffrey R. Immelt.

Mereka berdua ini adalah pemimpin yang dapat menciptakan inovasi. Inovasi ini dibuat dengan meminta anak buahnya membuat karya dan berpikir berpikir lain dari yang biasanya. Berpikir beda ini ditujukan agar para kompetitor terkejut dengan inovasi kita. CEO yang biasa mengajak anak buahnya untuk berpikir lain, biasanya juga menyilahkan anak buahnya berbuat kesalahan, untuk belajar dan mendapatkan sesuatu dari kesalahan yang dibuatnya itu.

Jika seorang CEO hanya mau menerima berita bagus maka dia belum bisa dikategorikan sebagai CEO hebat. Karena siapapun pasti akan siap menerimanya. Tapi bagaimana dengan berita buruk. Nah CEO hebat selalu mau mendengar berita buruk lebih awal. Seperti misalnya produk yang tidak berhasil diluncurkan. CEO yang mempunyai jiwa kepimpinan akan meminta anak buahnya memberitahukannya pertama kali. Ini dilakukannya untuk mengantisipasi hal terburuk terjadi.
